Mandatory Review of Documents
The Becker County Law Library has established a
Self-Help Clinic to assist people without lawyers. It is staffed
by an individual with legal knowledge. The Self-Help Clinic is available in the Becker County Law Library located
in the basement of the older part of the Becker County Courthouse. The office is staffed:
- Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
By Order of the Becker County District Court, when a party is not represented by an attorney, certain documents
must be reviewed by a staff member of the Self-Help Clinic before filing them with the court.
The types of documents that must be reviewed before filing are as follows:
- All Family Law Matters, excluding those brought in the expedited process
Therefore, if you wish to file a document listed above, you must first have it reviewed in the Self-Help Clinic.
After review, the staff person will certify that the document has been reviewed and at that point, you may file it
with the court.
